I'm in the aviation industry so have some knowledge in this area. It is *not* the airlines desire to have you show your identification to board, it is a requirement from the Govt. The Airlines would just as soon not do it as they have to pay for the person(s) who check your ticket and ID.

The issue is not one of having to show or not having to show an ID, the issue challenged is that the requirement is secret. It really doesn't have the force of law, but is a regulation applied by the bureaucrats. But either way the US is not Nazi or communist state where charges for breaking a "something" can't be trumped up under the guise of secrecy or national security; but maybe that's what we're becoming.
