On the off-chance that you're serious...
I tried to configure a BIND DNS server once. I could not find a named.conf file anywhere and the DNS server would never start!!

You need to install caching-nameserver as well as BIND.
Of course, if you had lifted a finger to do a modicum of research instead of throwing in the towel, you would have found this out. That's the problem with you NBMers -- insistence on instant gratification. Why not take that extra step and learn how things work? You'll find that Linux is not so tough to learn after all.
