Security woes hit Microsoft balance sheet

The system DOES work.

Many people have stated publicly that Microsoft is not responsive to market forces because they are a monopoly. Further, that Microsoft doesn't have to do anything to improve their products due to said monopoly status. Obviously the people making such foolish claims are as wrong as the claims themselves.

The market place has always been and always will be the true competition, not the "other guy". If you don't satisfy the market, your current position in it is meaningless and will quickly be little more than a memory.

This financial hit may be just the thing needed to remind Microsoft of these facts. The argument that users aren't interested or concerned about security simply isn't standing up to the "wallet vote" and that is the vote even Microsoft must pay heed too.

As a side note: I hope MS is not forced to release Longhorn before it's ready. Stand by your guns MS and do it RIGHT, not fast.
