Actually
Being told not to co-operate, not to accept bags from a stranger, etc. are warnings that have been broadcast in terminals since the early 70's hijacking spree. Our security screening is pretty lax compared to Isreal and some EU airports. Beginning 12/22 one can carry 4" scissors on board--everybody knows the jugular is buried at least 1/4" deep in the neck so they should be no threat; screwdrivers are also allowed because the heart is at least 1 1/2" under the skin and the brain lies 3" behind the eyes; wrenchs are allowed, but everybody knows their function is to twist nuts; of course pliers can only be used to inflict pain in such unlikely ways as crushing fingers or sensitive body parts. But, what the hell, carnage can be committed in the cabin but not in the cockpit--what a relief to know the pilots will be alive to get me on the ground to be buried. Supposedly removing these items will free up screeners from the imposed headcount cap to perform security checks for more dangerous threats such as bombs--never mind that there is no budget to upgrade or add to bomb detection equipment. DHS & TSA were knee jerk reactions by an idiot administration that really doesn't understand the Government is not efficient at anything. The real solution is to screw political correctness and keep those fitting known terrorist profiles out of the country.
