A total of about 60 applicants had to be denied, as security officials couldn't determine that the applicants weren't actually the same as those named on the list, Kennedy said."


Let me get this straight. Sixty people were denied from the clearance list for the stated reason. Two possibilities arise from the use of the double negative: they were either identified as being the subject of interest on the list or the government doesn't know exactly who they're looking for.

They should either arrest them or put them on the clearance list. There's really no middle ground if they in fact know who they're looking for. Of course, if we're all suspects... then no wonder Washington and Hollywood are on such good terms.
