Flawed? Maybe...
but didn't a group of people decide that 680kB was MORE than enough to run any computer?! Hasn't that been a big pain in the rump? Changes in use bring changes in environment. I am sure that no one thought that putting UN and PW into HTTP was dangerous at the time.

Windows is owned and updated by one company using a group of developers. Linux is an open-source software that receives changes and updates through a large community of users. MS Windows updates are executed in a mass fashion whereas Linux users change their own machines (and hopefully) post those changes.

The average home user is NOT technically able to work with an OS that changes. Nor are they able to handle an OS that requires more than simple point and click without having to learn some DOS like commands.

In the end, it is the USERS responsibility to create a safe and secure computing environment. Users also means the people who operate and maintain a system as well as the terminal operator.
