We need a hero
We no longer need a good 5 cent cigar in this country. Rather, we need a programming hero to charge the "Bastion of Capitalist Evil in Redmond" and save the world. Given the level of fervor I find in these postings, I suppose our hero must linger about us.

I suppose the rants and raves appear here as no one else will listen to you. Perhaps we need to erect a web site dubbed "http://www.bill.hate" so we can all vent our spleens. Maybe solutions should replace anger. Of course, you could write Bill and Steve directly and tell then how stupid they are.

A vendor makes patches and changes o suit their own strategy. I you do not like the vendor's solution, stop complaining and buy another system. Boy, if you whiners were IBM MVS system programmers you would have gone mad very early on. MVS is now a museum piece due to the high costs of installation and maintenance. And, MVS was stronger and much more secure than either Windows or *nix. To get a product you want: Build it yourself; buy a compromise and live with it; buy an MVS System. It has a goodly amount of power and security. An MVS mainframe can replace 4,100 SUN servers.

How many letters to the editor do you write about other products? Can you write serious research and solutions? Is "I hate" the only two words in your lexicon?
