What a stinkin' load...
This isn't a case of Microsoft getting kicked for actually putting security first! They didn't put security first with this patch - they killed a feature that, while being admittedly not well architected, was being used IN CONJUNCTION with a FLAW in IE! This is to say that the feature itself isn't inherently insecure unless coupled with the IE flaw!

How is it people are missing this? MS didn't fix the flaw. They just threw the baby out with the bath water by killing the feature.

Applications using the feature ARE NOT "applications that didn't put a premium on security.". What complete and utter bull! Talk about spinning a story... These application were using a valid feature of all browsers.

I might add that Opera, Safari, Mozilla, Firebird, Konquerer, etc.. don't seem to have this "flaw" and still support this type of URI. Funny how they don't seem to feel the need to kill the feature...
