This isn't the first time.
IE "fixes" frequently break Web applications, or make them
behave in dramatically different ways. This has always been
a problem, especially because, unlike every other browser
on the planet, you can't go back to an earlier version once
you've installed the "upgrade" or run different versions
concurrently. Supporting IE has been a real headache for
years.

So now IE also has the distinction of being the only browser
on the planet that doesn't permit using URLs with
usernames in them--something that's been a standard for
years. Why is it that this never caused problems for any of
the other browsers?

Do you start to get the feeling that if Microsoft continues to
disable features to prevent security exploits Windows is
going to start looking a lot like DOS?
