Yet another person that completely misses the point
I never said that Firefox/acrobat/real player were OS's, and for you to imply that shows that you are reaching, and really don't get it.

Let me ask you a question Mr. Guru.

Is IIS an OS?
Is Internet explorer an OS?
Is MS SQL server an OS?
Is trillian and OS?
Is ICQ an OS?
Is BlackICE defender an OS?

Of course not.

But these are all examples of applications that run on Windows which have had worms exploit them in the past.

If you really want an example of an OS exploit, here you go: The little OpenSSH vulnerability that the slapper worm used awhile back? What would have happened if 95% of the world has used linux as their desktop OS at that time? Would linux's magical security design would have prevented a mass infection?

It's not about the OS. It's about the users and the applications.
