Then why...
... do some people still not get it?

There were a lot of responses to the article about Apple patching
a whole bunch of bugs in OS X (mostly obscure, mostly in the
Server version of the OS, and NONE successfully exploited) that
essentially said "see? Apple's just as bad."

They spew the same crap when there are Linux security patches.
In both cases the patches are way ahead of any potential
exploits, but in the case of Windows, exploits are an everyday
occurrence. Windows users are actually being harmed by these
exploits. Data loss, identity theft, fraud--Windows users are
getting nailed left and right. How can anyone possibly compare
that to a situation where someone somewhere might be harmed
IF the flaw hadn't been patched or IF users didn't install the
patch and IF someone had figured out how to exploit it and IF
they could successfully disseminate their exploit....
