I stopped using java eons ago.
50% of java enabled websites cause my browser to crash and 30% cause the java applets themselves to crash if there is any sort of complexity in them. This is with firefox, opera and IE, not just one browser. I'm so sick of it that I've disabled java permanently, except for my bank website.

Looking at the code bloat, slowness and size, java is no better than .NET, except that it is "supposed" to run on multiple platforms. That too is a joke, because during our java development process we keep finding differences in the runtime between solaris, windows and linux. Code built on windoze does NOT necessarily run on linux or solaris, and vice versa. This requires us to have two separate builds, one for windoze and one for solaris.

These days we only develop in java if the customer DEMANDS it. Otherwise native C/C++ code is MUCH faster and takes less memory.
