Any Tech Geek who opens a zip file without scanning it with a Quality and regularly updated AV program deserves whatever they get, if the virus had already been identified and the manufacturer of their AV software had already supplied an update to cover it.

As an advanced windows user of 12 years I have never had a virus or worm that has broken through my defenses but I expect it to happen some day.

The problem is that punishments aren't hard enough. Anyone found guilty of writing a virus should be given a day in prison for every occurence detected and banned from owning or using a computer for life.
