The 'rootkit' worked exactly the way Sony and First4Internet wanted it to work. Thus it was NOT a flaw in the software that allowed hackers to create 'tools' that use the software. It was the poor planning (thinking) and execution of this 'rootkit' that was flawed.

They wanted to hide all files that begins with '$sys'. This was so they could created future DRM and/or spyware software that would automatically get hidden by the 'rootkit'.

BOO on Sony, First4Internet, and all antivirus companies that went along with this terrible decision to create/use this software.
