Microsoft Needs to Take Action
I've already commented on this Sony thing elsewhere here on ZDnet...but there is ONE thing that does need doing.

Microsoft needs to immediately make it impossible for anyone to install a root-kit without first requiring notification to the user that the software is attempting to install a root-kit.

A WARNING should pop up, which has to be clicked with an "I AGREE" or "I UNDERSTAND" that this software is installing a root-kit. There should be a warning explanation to the consumer about what a root-kit is and what it might do to the O/S.

It should explain exactly what the root-kit intends to do, and there should be a REQUIRED uninstall package to force it OUT of the O/S without any subsequent damages.

If a person understands a root-kit is being installed, is provided with an explanation of what it is and what it will do, and is also offered an UNINSTALL and complete IRADICATION of it from the O/S at the consumer's choice, then I don't see a problem with using root kits.

God knows what else has been invented to get into our computers...we don't need official corporations doing stealth invasive techno-crime on our computers....

Let's hear it...When is Microsoft going to take ACTION?
