That is not the issue---
Certainly in a perfect world everyone will play by the 'rules'. But they don't. Do you support real world clients with real world problems? Sony still needs to take responsibility for it's actions. Sony should never have required installation of thier player that caused this problem in the first place. They imply by thier recall of over 4 million cds that they were wrong. Couldn't they have thought ahead and realized that this was in invasion of privacy and the potentional for others to piggy back on their 'rootkit' installation causing unknown future problems. Don't get side tracked by other very valid issues.

To address your 'broken software' issue. Many of these software developers have 'fixed' their software. It is the users (ie: Clients - the ones that pay the consultant, admin, etc. saleries) that will not pay for the upgrade to the 'latest' version. So, real world, you must still run as an Admin even though there are 'solutions' available for their problem. The dollars need to be spent, but, the clients will not. There are still people using DOS programs to do various things out there. I don't know why a client will pay break/fix costs but not upgrade costs. As we all know the upgrade cost is the only way to go.

So, anyway, this is still a very interesting situation with Sony and I will continue to watch developments.
