Safe as houses ...
Hi upnorth,
ZoneAlarm AntiSpyware will find stuff your tools won't, including well disguised diallers. Visit Steve Gibson's site for more advice on hardening atop your good suite of tools. I run Windows98
on an old box for internet, away from production
boxes, and I can always tell when something has
come on board it from the net. No net to XP, far too risky imho.

Next year I'm giving up on XP and moving all production work to Macs. We'll probably tolerate Media Edition in the living room as long as it's not accessible to the internet.

Buffer overflows ... no hardware differentiation between code RAM and data RAM ... memory leaks ... threshing ... not the best way to write operating systems, just a way. May it rest in peace one day.

"Too much maintenance required, it expired."

Stv.
