What a rant ...
Quote: milspecguy "Okay. Enough already. Any OS, no matter
which, is VULNERABLE at some point to infection/rooting or just
plain stupidity. Only an IDIOT would run ANY OS without security
patches, updates to apps, and bugfixes!"

Perhaps you would like to put yourself into others' shoes for a
while. Just because someone doiesn't apply security patches or
updates etc doesn't make them an idiot. They can simply be
unaware of the need, not able to access the updates (perhaps
tehy are in an area of the world witrh very poor comms
infrastructure). Lack of understanding or education doesn't
make them an idiot.
More to the point, the lack of application of common sense may
make them an idiot (which is why for example IBM certainly had
a phrase in their PS/2 manual to the effect of: "If smoke or
flames are seem coming out of your computer do NOT continue
to use the computer but enplug it form the power supply and
extinguish the fire"

Quote: milspecguy "If you run Windows, you must like it, or you
wouldn't run it."

I know plenty of people who "have to use" Windows/MacOS at
work and complain bitterly about the experience almost all the
time. Sometimes you don't have a choice. I certainly don't get
much choice when running ITRON and ... yes that crahes too. I
have had to reboot my DVD player from time to time.

Quote: milspecguy "That's one of the reasons WHY they make
more than one OS! Choice."

Hmmm. Windows was created because they thought there needs
to be consumer CHOICE? To have another alternative to say
windowing on other OSe? I beg to differ. I don't see Gates as
being that altruistic. He was simply gunning for market share to
make profits to get wealthy. That's the business plan. Pure and
simple.

As for your flame about flamers just try and take a few deep
breaths, relax and think "/ignore." Or even think different!
Where do you want to go today? Get free and happy! wink
