Actually patch is for a bug
The bug causes programs that rely upon the advanced rendering features of Quicktime to crash - horribly - with QT 7.0.3 - hench a new patch to fix the bug. The crash can also be exploited - as reported in this article - but it's really the code bug that caused applications to stop functioning that is being worked on.
