Problem at Zdnet is
that the vocal number of people who post don't necessarily represent the public in general, but the posts are taken or slammed as such. Everybody has a right to their opinions, and please forbid not reporting on any vendors/developers/grass roots orgs tech issues and flaws.

What I see here also is a core group of posters who look for the articles that easily allow them to post about their targetted subjects, mostly Microsoft and in kind, its competitors. Zdnet posts a MS headline, no matter what someone will shill for or against and someone will bash for and against, and along the way someone will call the users idiots.

Next, I see a more critical eye being applied to more software vendors. We are in times where the millions of eyes can intelligently dissect code from any vendor or run it through real world multiple scenarios and see what breaks and what breaks loose, for either good bad or neutral purposes. If somebody thinks they can make fame or fortune off of exploiting it, they will. Spamming isn't a high percentage return business, but 1% of a million is still a nice some when sending out those millions costed only pennies.

The only people who are safely not living in technologies glass houses maybe the ones living with no modern technologies. Not concerned with the old satellites frying from a solar activity increase, worms and virus on the internet, chips inbedded in devices, clothing, and flesh, surveillance cameras from big brother down to the little brother across the street doing 'up skirts', the heavily fortified end-of-the-world nerd trying to figure out how long his wall of back up batteries will keep his computer of choice running when the grid goes down and the net is snipped and everybody elses device is a paperweight or doorstop. You know the glasshouse we all live in, earth, . . . time to reboot.
