Remember you must be logged on as administrator, which under Windows means anyone who has access to install software, typically the main user of the computer.

On Mac that's not necessarily the case (infact Apple recommends you don't login as local administrator), you need to enter an Administrator login to change software even if you're already logged in as the admin user.

And no matter what, virtually none (< 0.1%) have activated the Root account, so technically I'm not convinced that this amounts to anything to worry about for the vast majority of Mac users anyway.

Quit your FUD slinging and go buy a Mac already!
