MS gives IE away free, or well at lease as a free with the purchase of the OS, why would they care if someone else picked up development costs of a simple browser? they care so much so, that when netscape tried to do them one better in the browser wars, they bolted the browser to the OS, is it because they see the OS as less and less important and the browser as more and more important and want to keep control of the browser in order to keep control of the OS?
