This is exactly the correct behavior according to the
standard. Now whether the standard should be changed or
not is a different topic.

IE had a bug that allowed for the second part of the url to
be hidden in address bar, therefore the user would be
unaware of the actual site they were visiting (unlike non-IE
users which would show http://mysimon.com/).

So instead of fixing the bug, MS broke the standard and
removed the feature.

Mozilla standards compliant, IE even further from it!
