As mentioned in the article, the perfect disease exists for long periods of time in the host allowing for growth and spread. This may be the next level for computer virus makers: attempting to create some type of low-level, non-detectable infection that runs below ALL rader for long periods.
On the other side, researchers recently created in the lab a super-virulant TB strain that was so powerful it went completely against the biological model and destroyed EVERY infected host, making further transmission impossible. Something like some of the possibilities mentioned here.
