Re: Like any other product or service...
you always have the right not to buy. Keep in mind that you do NOT have the right to steal products or services if you do not agree with their terms of use. This really isn't all that complicated.

What I'd like to know is why is it always the consumer that has no rights? Or more accurately, why is it always the consumer who gets slapped down by masochist fellow consumers? Stockholm Syndrome?

Thanks for reminding me I don't have the right to steal. I don't see you telling big media it doesn't have the right to steal. When the movie studio puts a region code on a DVD it sells me, that's stealing. It's stealing value from my purchase. When the movie studio disables my Fast Forward button, it's stealing value from my DVD player. There is absolutely nothing in the Copyright Act that says fast forwarding is an exclusive right, or determining where a movie can be viewed is an exclusive right. Therefore it's stealing.

Where Sony went wrong here is that they weren't honest about the terms of use.

See how hard you are on your fellow consumers and how easy you are on SONY? That's where it went wrong? I thought where it went wrong is it committed trespass on a huge scale, and is still doing it as long as these CDs still are on the shelves.

Funny how your brothers, sisters, friends and neighbors are all criminals if they download a song but the corporations that steal from you every day are not. I'll never figure out that point of view.

How can it be if I rooted your machine it's a crime but when SONY roots millions of machines it's not. Where's your outrage?
