No I do get it
and the point is the average users of Linux are still by far smarter and more security savvy than their average user Microsoft counter-parts. And that is contiually pounded into peoples craniums.

One of the reasons Linux has not taken off is because of the simple fact that security is enforced at so many levels. And the average user out there is to lazy to learn a few simple steps and techniques to keep their systems safe and operating properly.

I know elderly that have been placed on Linux and have been instructed about e-mail and web security. And so far they seem to be using Linux just fine. The same is true of the Mac camp. The users in the Mac camp also seem to be a bit brighter and more willing to accept a couple minor inconveniences to maintain a safe and healthy computing environment.

Personally I don't want lazy users using Linux, they are the reason Microsoft succeeded and not Microsoft has such a bad rap for being a carpware house. It's a dual edged blade and the lazy average user and Microsoft have cut their own throats.

Bottom line maybe .5% of the Linux / Mac using population would be affected by this type of carp. Why? Smarter, more "paranoid" and a much better awareness of the dangers inherent out in the ether.

Either way, I don't forsee this being very wide spread, I think people having been burned so many times are now starting to get it. Much like Homer Simpson and Bart with the electro-shock therapy... eventually you shock them enough they will learn, or perish. And either way the community as a whole wins.
