Who exactly?
Who is it, exactly, in the software industry that feels this
way? I just read an interview the other day with the CEOs of
three of the most prominent game developers, and they all
said that pircacy ("trading" as some like to call it) is their
number one concern. Meanwhile Adobe is beginning to
implement stringent DRM on their major titles like
Photoshop to combat piracy. Almost every company I see is
starting to incorporate some type of anti-piracy measure,
so who is it that has just accepted piracy as part of life?

The truth is this is just a common spin that people who
want everything for free often put on the story.
"Everybody's doing it, so it can't be that bad." No matter
how you slice it, it's wrong. You can say that "trading"
music online is great marketing for the artist until you're
blue in the face, but as a published professional musician, I
can tell you, it's not. It's taking money directly out of the
pocket of the artist. The record companies are complaining
about lost sales, but rest assured, they're getting their take.
The artists are the one who get the shaft.
