How's that again?
As a developer for one of the "big guys" in storage management, I wonder just who it is that Jon goes to to analyze this software market segment. Our products and our competitor's products are very, very good at assuring the integrity of the data that our customers backup daily. We ourselves had customer protectin several terabytes of data in the WTC disaster and we are comforted by the fact that we didn't lose a byte of it, although it was a tragedy in most other terms.

We sell confidence in our products to our customers and we know their trust is well placed. Data protection may be overlooked by a lot of individuals who can be devastated by sudden loss of bank records or similar data or simply by loss of work in-process when a laptop or home computer desktop loses a hard drive or is infected with a virus, but my direct experience is that major and minor corporations are very aware of the critical need to adequately protect their data availability and do so effectively.
