- Windows OneCare should help my mom's/dad's computer.
-
I'm going to convince my mom to subscribe to Windows OneCare when it comes out in 2006. Switching to Mac or Linux is not my mom/dad's option because my mom and dad are in college now. I will not be administrating my mom/dad's computer and my family will have to take full responsibility for mantaining and administrating their computer. Before my mom restored their computer back to their orginal factory, my mom's computer got hit by a virus and got controlled by hackers; thus, I'm glad my mom experienced it because I knew hackers will gain control over my mom's unpatched computer and my mom knows better than that. She told me "Soey means Grayson, go away," and she loves hackers. I found it humorous but not funny. I told her "have fun," and she just got mad bcause of hakers. And she knew that she will have to have a firewall to protect their computer. But not only that, patch security holes.
I know that my mom was a fool for saying stuff like that to me and let her computer unpatched, but now she know better now. She let me administer her computer, asking me to put in a firewall. But not only that, I've updated my mom's Windows computer but she didn't told me that but I did so over the e-mail. So, she's not a fool anymore.
My mom and dad doesn't use Firefox and my mom and dad doesn't know how to use it but I don't want to take my time to explain the features of Firefox. She always have the favorites pane in Internet Explorer. Plus, mom and dad is so familiar with Internet Explorer.
Please note: Switching to Firefox won't give my parent's extra security, as Firefox gained a lot of popularity. Not only you have to patch Internet Explorer, you also have to patch Firefox. So that's why my mom and dad stick to Internet Explorer. It's less work in patching my parent's computer. - Posted by: Grayson Peddie Posted on: 10/26/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
