1. Mac OS is based on FreeBSD, which is open source, so it
continuously undergoes intensive scrutiny by people who
are a lot smarter than virus writers. It absolutely is more
secure than Windows.

2. Even if the Mac's market share were responsible for the
absence of viruses, so friggin' what? It doesn't matter
what's responsible for the reduced risk. It's still safer.
That's risk management 101. Whether a car has a higher
rate of accidents because it's defective or because the
people who drive it tend to be morons is immaterial. The
risk is the same, so the cost of insurance is the same.
Besides, do you really think that market share is going to
change overnight? Do you think we're going to roll out of
bed tomorrow and find that the Mac now enjoys a 90%
market share and is suddenly plagued with viruses? You'd
better put down that crack pipe. Finally, if Market share was
the reason for all of Microsoft's ills, they can fix that
problem very easily: just stop illegally leveraging their
monopolies to grab more and more market share.

3. There's this inconvenient little fact that Apache runs
two-thirds of the world's Web sites, while IIS runs a measly
20%, yet IIS accounts for the vast majority of servers that
are compromised. If the ubiquity of Windows was
responsible for all the viruses, worms and other security
exploits it suffers from, why hasn't the same thing
happened to Apache?
