Aren't we TOUCHY, now, joemama.
Must be some truth in what I said to drive you to using all the "******" words, eh?

"you would base a 20 node office on an unsupported OS?" Depends upon what you mean by support. If your idea of support is the clueless Microsoft help desk guy who, because he's never worked with anything else, can't help you make Windows play nice in your heterogenious network and bounces you all around his office to a half dozen other people who MAY be able to help you with that problem; pay away, joemama, far be it from me to advise you how to spend your money. However, if by support you mean posting a question about the same subject on one of the many Linux forums, and getting several answers that work within a couple of hours, FOR FREE, then SuSE looks pretty well supported, don't it?

That's the problem with all you shills, you think The Microsoft Way (where only the drones in Redmond can wear the badge of "support") is the ONLY way to get support for something. You've got your blinders on and can't see if the guy sitting next to you, in your personal community, has the answer you can save money by the boatloads. And, with an Internet connection, "the guy sitting right next to you" can actually be sitting half way around the world. That's not real support? Too bad for you, it has worked for me for over 10 years.

As a matter of fact, right now I have clients in over a dozen offices running various versions this "unsupported" Linux operating system. And for a few of them I haven't even been on-site since I first installed it; just have used this VNC connection that you say sucks (which causes me to wonder about how recent your experience with Linux is; I'm beginning to think it's no more recent than John's with RH 5.2).

Yer right, I can name a couple of Linux substitutes for everything you mentioned, and they are GOOD ones, too, as long as you're using a recent distribution of Linux. As for this nonsense about Active Directory; I KNOW yer workin' with out-of-date knowledge now, joemama, because for a LONG time now you have been able to make a Samba server an AD Domain Controller.

Oh, and one last thing: all these clients of mine that are running this "unsupported" operating system? There isn't a problem in their offices that I haven't fixed all by my little self or that I couldn't find somebody online who could help me fix; not a single, unfixed problem at ANY of those sites. As a matter of fact, there weren't many problems AT ALL; much fewer than those at my clients who are running Windows.

silly
