Exactly -- who needs subscriptions?
That's my feeling, too. I don't even waste my time looking to see what Norton's subsr. update costs. I just wait until the price after rebate is between $0 and $9.

The only thing you have to watch out for is that the rebate center you send it to is in El Paso ... not Miami. In the last 4 years, the Miami center can't get anything right. Of course, this is not a Symantec issue, per se. The rebate centers are run by an independent company -- Symantec "should" switch to someone else.
