I'm sure there's more than a few of us here who remember using the Internet before Microsoft woke up. Microsoft didn't even offer their own TCP/IP stack until NT came out, and that was lifted directly from BSD Unix (read the copyrights on the TCP/IP stack in NT v3.1 -- yes, this was the first version of NT; called "3.1" for marketing reasons so it wouldn't appear to be down-level from Windows v3.1 then current -- if you want to check for yourself)!
