It would help if the article included some hard numbers. Saying that IM threats were rising over 3000% was based on what?

In the anti-virus world we distinguish between the total number of threats and threats found "in-the-wild" (ITW). How many of these IM worms have been found in the wild?

Without numbers or context this comes across as just another vendor scare story.
