HI, Bitsbuckets
No one who falls for this scam will ever be granted Mensa membership. That being said, people are particularly vulnerable when a tragedy strikes, because they, to their credit, see suffering and want to help alleviate it. (The same thing happened after 9/11.) There should be absolutely no tolerance for the kind of subhuman excrement that would take advantage of people in this situation, however naive they were to fall for this ruse in the first place. An example must be made, so that any future scammer would be too terrified to even attempt this. Legally, I know it can't be, but I truly believe that the only way to stamp this out is to prosecute this as a capital crime.
