Taking advantage
I considered a plan to demonstrate just how useless the YOU-CAN-SPAM act is by spamming our legislators. Of course, I was going to follow the strict letter of the law and provide an opt-out URL in each message. But since the exact content of that URL is not defined in the act, I and some others came up with the idea of a multi-page, multi-language, java-enabled, media-rich (including sound for the visually challenged) web site that the visitor would have to navigate to opt out. And after all that, there would still be a six-to-eight month wait to allow for processing.

Hey, it beats whining about the law or, worse, writing to our elected officials to threaten voting for "the other guy."
