Hate maybe more so than anything else
but to say marketshare isn't part of the picture isn't a fair view of the total picture. Those who hate MS are a numerous bunch, some good and bad at coding malicious content to unseat or exploit it, and though MS is the worst spaghetti on the table, it's on so many tables that its a target that yields the most damage in the shortest period of time. Linux and Apple are great in their secure visions and implementations but holes exists, the forums and boards that do talk about em point out such is true, but the culture there isn't, "hey here's a hole in OS X, let's craft proof of concept code and release it into the wild.

Also, a growing number of phishers, scammers, and virus writers are teaming up to exploit the marketshare of MS with dual payload worms and viri, that don't necessary destroy but data mine. Data mine 80% or 10%, or whatever the number? Doesn't matter, so many people say, oh well, its Windows, its deserved, ill on those folks and the virus writers will never do me and my Fedora, my OS X, my FreeBSD, my Solaris any wrong. Heck, they even coded up a cool mp3 player with AAC and OGG support for my platform, nice.
