Juice Ju1ce or whatever.....
"How is it off the point? I don't even have to have IE installed on my computer to get ActiveX components raiding my Windows Explorer."

It is off the point because the issue was with Active X controls being installed without user action. So tell me that's readily possible now and without the drive by dl hole. And then explain how. And please don't bring up P2P, thrid party apps, or socially engineered crap. We are talking about Active X technology opening up a security risk to Windows users simply because it is present.

Explain to me how and please don't be afraid to be as techinical as you like, I can handle it. Since your a programmer you should have no problem explaining your statement. I asked you for this before on another thread and received no reply so please, this time, explain away.

Then you go on to justify yourself with;
"Problem is.. With P2P no one takes precautions"

Tell me again how that makes Active X tech a security issue within itself. Again, don't bring up because a user could install this malware that malware or the other because that argument holds for every OS and well beyond Active X alone. A system that is openened to the baddies has a lot more to worry about than this.

"The issue IS that ActiveX by itself is an INSECURE technology because of the way it's embezzled itself in the O/S"

Active X, within the web browser is insecure becuase without precautions, and with user interaction, a user could allow a site access to their system. But please be more specific here. You seem to think that there is more of a reason why Active X is such an insecure technology. Are you talking about a specific COM application? Are you speaking of a set of Active X controls? And please, again, give technically sound details.

Unfortunately, the sadest part about Active X objects is that even lay persons can use them and actually call themselves a programmer.
