ActiveX....
"ActiveX is needed for a lot of web pages to work and the fact that Firefox doesn't have it makes it unusable in some cases."

Only some cases, IE: Windows Update, Sharepoint (but hey DNN is way better anyways), and various other things... like software. :P

"ActiveX can be turned off in IE and it can be added to Mozilla Firefox."

It can not be turned off in your operating system. This is where the whole problem lies in itself.

"ActiveX for untrusted sites pretty much defaults to off in Windows XP SP2 and even trusted sites will require that the user actively clicks "install"."

With one exception, installing software on your computer that contains adware/malware/spyware.

"It can be used for malicious code but so can .exe."

You're comparing apples to oranges with this.. George, you may want to read up on ActiveX and exactly how it is used within the O/S.

An exe is contained within the executable itself.

An ActiveX control is used within many apps for application integration. It is NOT just used on the internet like so many of these people believe. Cracks me up when I hear this...
