Yes and No
The hacking was just one item.. IMHO the bomb threat was the worst of the bunch. Here was a curious kid who has probably seen 'hackers' and 'patriot games'.. In Patriot Games there is an encrypted disk and the gov't paid hacker gets the password in minutes.. same with the account of another CIA official. i.e. I have a friend who's daughters name is 'nicole' his pw is generally 'nicole' not 'N1c01e' which is close but would be harder to guess.. If she had used a strong password this kid would have probably given up in about 5 minutes and gone back to playing worms or something else. If something is accessible and or desireable you don't just put the lid on the cookie jar and assume that the kids can't open the jar.. Even if the jar is placed in the top shelf in the cupboard.. All you've done is made it inconvenient to everyone. Put the cookies in a strong box and keep the key to the padlock around your neck and the cookies will be safer (if not safe)..

Why are so many computers hacked.. (1) curiousity and (2) because people leave themselves wide open to be hacked. Social Engineering is the craze with hackers.. 80% of the people leaving their apartment building underground parking that were asked their password i.e. I can't think of a good passwword for work.. what do you use? gave the questioner their password!! DUMB as nails these people are.. but it happens all of the time.. remember the adage the only way 2 people can keep a secret is if one of them is dead!

T-mobile is just a victim here the other cell carriers are just as lax.. you can call into any head office and give them credentials that you've heard in the store and get access unless proper security is followed i.e. having a list of authorized phone numbers and calling back that number.. Security folks.. you've got to think of it all the time..

Think about how much information Air-Miles could be compiling about your spending habits.. Wouldn't GM Visa be pissed with you paying your FORD bill using their card! The technology to do this has existed for years.. it is just getting faster and faster to access every day..
