Security vs ease of use...
T-Mobile let's the user choose their own password. Forcing a complex password policy would be too difficult for the dim witted... They really are forced to cater to the lowest common denominator. Its her own fault, on and BTW, Sidekick sales went through the roof after all the publicity. Go figure...
