How it started...?
"What kind of brain got us into this mess?"

It helps to remember that this all started with happy technogeeks discovering how to first create fast, cheap personal computers; then, how to interconnect them; then, the masses caught on to it and all hell broke loose.

The technogeeks weren't in the mindset of "how can bad guys use this technology to screw us", but rather "holy crap! look what these babies can do! We can send banned images and jokes all over the world!"

Then, the masses got on board and starting believing the marketing hype that led to all sorts of financial information being stored and passed around, like leaving your money laying about the office and then leaving the lights on and the doors unlocked at night... never thinking about the creeps in the dark.

So now, we have to go back and retro-actively develop armoured systems, technologies, and personal computing habits. It's not only the responsibility of OS and app providers, but we users could use a dash more self-preservation instinct, as well.

It ain't paranoia if they're actually out to get you.

and so it goes...
