Fraud Is All Over The Place
A good point is that anyone, anywhere can steal credit card info. Just because a card is used at a regular store doesn't mean it's any safer.

At my old address, each month my credit card bill would come in an envelope where the bottom portion was torn in an obvious attempt to get at the account number. Fortunately, the entire number was never visible this way, and there was no way they could have gotten the expiration date, which is supposed to act as a double check that the card is not stolen. A small thing but helpful.

Let's face it, every time you write a check you put your bank account at risk. All that's needed is there: the routing number and the account number. Plus, name and address.

Nothing is safe, anywhere.
