The creator of an idea is it's owner? Since when?
"Primary (intellectual) property ownership is established by the act of its creation, and that is a matter of fact. The creator of an idea is its natural owner. Primary property ownership is immutable. The rights that derive from that ownership can be traded. Or stolen".

I won't say you're wrong, in that, this is undoubtedly the way the IT domain is functioning at moment, as implemented by the industry and the law. But as a system it is wrong, it is completely unfair and it is run and perpetuated by self serving commercial entities with a lot to gain and everything to lose. When you assert that "The creator of an idea is its natural owner" what you mean is, "Now that a system beneficial to the multi-billion dollar players has been introduced, it has recently been decided that "The creator of an idea is its natural owner".

Consider the following tiny fraction of creators who's ideas came centuries ago -

Susruta (http://www.vidyapatha.com/scientists/susrutha.php)
He is known as the Father of Plastic Surgery. He mended a nose some 26 centuries ago.And what he did is not greatly different from what a plastic surgeon would do today. He was the first physician to advocate what is today konown as "Caesarean" operation

Aryabhata (http://www.vidyapatha.com/scientists/arya.php)
He was the first to deduce that the earth is round and ........He gave the value of (pi) as 3.1416......And he was the first mathematician to give what later came to be called the tables of Sines..........

Brahmagupta (http://www.vidyapatha.com/scientists/brahmagupta.php)
The mathematician who first framed the rules of operation for zero was Brahmagupta. He was also to give a solution to indeterminate equations of the type ax2+1=y2 and the founder of a branch of higher mathematics called numerical analysis.

Which one of the giant corporations pushing for a patent on an idea today would willingly pay the descendants of any of those ancient scientists a fee every time they used basic mathematics or the basic principles of computer science? Suddenly we see that this notion of "The creator of an idea is its natural owner" is a newly manufactured construct - a ridiculous one, when thought into deeply - and its sole purpose is to make rich corporations richer by allowing them to "legally" own an idea which was already someone else's invention centuries ago.

There can be no such thing as an original idea, as even the briefest amount of time spent looking at the scientific works of "ancient" Persian, Indian and Arabian scientists would quickly prove. The Johnny-come-lately enginers, mathematicians and scientists of the western world have basically restarted the clock to coincide with the onset of their own "age of ideas" and now seek to use the law to guard their stolen empire.

The OPen Source movement is the counter offensive to this ongoing crime and in the long run the human race as a whole (as opposed th=o the rich western bits of it) will profit from non-proprietary solutions to human problems.
