As always, ease of use wins..
Sure, I use linux, love it.. but trying to teaching my nephew or parents to use Linux to play their games etc, forget about it. Most people don't want to have to tinker with their OS to get it to play something like WMAs or AVIs, they just want it to work first time. It's amazing how much nicer Linux is to use already, but without huge commerical market share for some development $$, there's still a ways to go. I wish MS would suck it up and go more of the OSX route, but I suppose that's an i386 issue..
But anyways, if they're trying to get even a little more secure, I think it's a good thing. Not headline news or anything, more of a doing their job thing. To bad they can't do it better though..
