I think that depends on why you're stealing it. It's possible that you could target someone's laptop for theft (e.g., the CEO of a company, or a political figure). In such a case, you'd be very interested in what was on it. That's setting aside basic human curiosity. If you were the kind of low-life that would steal someone's laptop, wouldn't you at least check to see if the victim's banking site was still in the cache, and if they stored his/her passwords on the machine? You could actually do quite a bit of damage to a person by stealing his/her laptop. Unfortunately, most laptop security is nominal, at best. The new IBM machines with biometrics are intriguing, but one wonders if thieves would start lopping off people's fingers if such a thing caught on...
