Absolutely pathetic.
All of you...pathetic...absolutely pathetic.

"FAT32 is completely open"

Of course I wasn't talking about FAT32..but I knew some bozo would bring it up. Should we start comparing Windows XP to Slackware 96' on usability?

"i'm not sure what he means but NTFS does have an awful recovery of data rate when something foobar the drive. That might make it more secure I gues"

Suuuure. NTFS is a very reliable filesystem. Much more reliable that ext2fs. Congrats to linux on finally catching up to NT in the last few years with it's newer filesystems!

"The default setup of NTFS isn't too great. Much better than FAT, yes, but the default privledges are still poorly set up so that a virus, if accidently run in the user's desktop, could still cause damage beyond the user's account."

Can you please give me an exmaple? Regardless - what does this have to do with the security of the file system? If s ship a linux ditro with every file set to 777, does that make the file system insecure?

"On a system like Linux, a virus would be severely limited, as the damage would be localized to the user's account."

As it would be in Windows.

"but the default permissions. NTFS 5 is fine but over 90% of the home users I've seen have XP installed on FAT32.

Oh so we're making up stats now? Sorry, but I've not seen all of these FAT32 installations. Every new computer I've ever seen in the last few years has come with NTFS as the file system.

I won't even go into .dll's."

You shouldn't, since there would be nothing to go into.
