I would think that a privacy term that completely invalidates all the good previous terms would cause them to be dinged to the bottom. After all any plus points can be remove simply by 30 days notice!

Contrast Orbitz policy with Expedias:

"Expedia.co.uk reserves the right to modify or amend this Privacy Statement....
Regardless of later updates, we will abide by the information privacy practices described in this Privacy Statement at the time you provided us with your information."

So they can change their privacy policy but not apply the new policy to information received under the old policy. So they cannot nullify the previous terms simply by giving notice.

"I am also presuming that those on the bottom of the list sell your information"
And Orbitz & Verizon can join them simply by giving notice!
