"You dont put all your eggs in one basket". If you have only one OS for everything you will always be at the mercy of bad guys. On the other hand every company is trying to save money by offshoring so they will rather keep unsecure systems then spend money on proper configuration. The only way to achive some results is to allow lawsuits against companies who do not protect data. Once they have to pay millions of dollars every time there is loss of peoples personal info they will start thinking about security. Class action suit may do the trick. Maybe somebody else has some better ideas?
