- Threat of re-election does not work

The threat to not re-electing a representative does not work anymore because of the acts of redistricting in the US. The majority of the districts were redrawn so that they will now contain 60% or more of a given party. The idea of redistricting was to make areas more even and to make it so that no district was going to be a party line and to even things out. Unfortunately that has backfired and now those that are elected to the US house or senate are more secure in their seat than ever.
The original story really goes back to training people about ethical behavior. There are those that were raised that way (which seems to be fewer and fewer) but the idea of ethicals behavior still has to be reinforced and in cases like this enforced. - Posted by: Silent Observer Posted on: 08/17/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
